QUESTION
L&D. Is it common for a defendant's attorney to not respond to letters of settlement from plantiff's attorney? The defendant(doctor) is his own expert witness in this particular case.

ANSWER
The attorney does not necessarily have to respond. It is, however, typically a matter of courtesy and professionalism to respond one way or the other so that the plaintiff's attorney can proceed with the trial process.
